Robotics and vision have become staples of smart machines
Using mechatronics, vision (artificial intelligence) and robotics, smart machines are devised and assembled in the West-Frisian town of Tuitjenhorn. Machines that stand all over the world processing fruit and vegetables. And the method of processing is well thought out at ZTI smart machines.
We pride ourselves on how we continue to innovate. 'We are constantly looking for ways to make the machines simpler, cheaper and smarter. Without losing sight of quality and functionality. The people operating the machine also do less and less boring and repetitive work. Because putting fruit in a machine is fine for a day, but less fun to do day after day. It is quite a tough job because of the repetitive and sometimes one-sided work. Not good for health and motivation. You want employees to enjoy what they do and not look for another workplace.
As fruit is an organic product, fruits always come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours. We are 'deep learning' our latest machines with vision technology. This makes recognising the product and positioning it correctly increasingly easy. Orientation and automated positioning of fruit in a machine is no longer something far in the future. It is here and will never go away. A whole new way of thinking. One that keeps presenting us with new challenges to come up with innovative inventions.
