Cabbage comes in various types, shapes and sizes. Well-known types include white cabbage, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, pointed cabbage and Chinese cabbage. Although the types differ in shape, colour and leaf structure, they all have a compact structure of leaves around a firm core or stalk. The weight can vary from a few hundred grams to several kilograms each. Because of these differences, cabbage processing machines must be flexible and able to process different types of cabbage with precision.
ZTI has machines for processing the cabbage in the first stage (when it has just come from the land or out of storage) so that farmers can cut the stalk off the cabbage and remove the leaves, after which they are sorted on the cabbage-sorting line. This allows the cabbages to be transported clean to a vegetable-processing company.
In the subsequent processing phase of cabbage, we offer the processor a number of options. The processor can drill the core out of white cabbage or pointed cabbage with the Cabbage Corer. The Cabbage Corer and Wedger drills the core out of white cabbage and pointed cabbage and cuts them into 2 or 4 wedges.
For Chinese cabbage processors, we have recently developed a Chinese Cabbage Corer which also halves the Chinese cabbage so that it can be processed further immediately, for kimchi, for example.
